In our quest to create a truly biodiverse farm (and to add to our ever expanding flock), we decided that we would add bees to the mix. Local honey is known to ameliorate the symptoms of allergies (because if you consume honey, you’re consuming some of the pollen to which you may be allergic- so amazing!). We joined the Kearsarge Beekeepers Association (KBA) to learn about beekeeping since neither Scott nor I had ever cared for bees. Our bees arrive at the end of May, so fingers crossed for some Whitney Brook Farm honey soon! We plan to sell our honey at the Sunapee Farmers Market as soon as it’s available (and we learn how to extract it). Pardon me if you see me with a sting welt or two.
