My husband (Mike Jewczyn – pronounced Josen) and I (Carol Wallace) retired and moved to Sunapee, NH in March of 2018 and are so lucky to be living in such a wonderful part of the world. I grew up on a small farm in CT where we had sheep, donkeys, a horse, ducks, chickens, dogs, cats and even a pet raccoon. I loved growing up on the farm despite the sometimes harsh realities of farm life and wanted the same for our grandchildren. So… in August of 2019 we purchased Whitney Brook Farm. The 150 acre parcel was slated to become a 37 unit housing development, and the land is so beautiful that we just couldn’t let that happen.

The property had not been run as a true farm for many years but with Scott Niemyer as our amazingly dedicated Farm Manager (and Charlie, his wonderful Border Collie), we quickly remedied that by adding 2 llamas, 3 ewe (female) lambs, 1 adult ewe and 25 chicks. We reconfigured the veggie garden to be able to produce more, and had a bumper crop of veggies that we shared with friends, family and the Got Lunch! program based in Newport, NH. In the meantime, we added a barn for equipment (and lots of hay) and are now adding a barn to house our livestock. We situated the barn such that Scott and Charlie can see the barn and hear the goings on of farm life. No predator problems so far (fingers crossed!).
